Towan Lodge 50th Anniversary
TOWAN LODGE 50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
On Thursday 4th February 2010 Towan Lodge No.7684 celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Consecration by the Right Worshipful Brother Colonel E.N. Willyams the Provincial Grand Master.
In fact the Lodge celebrated its birth three weeks early as it was actually consecrated on the 25th February 1960, but why spoil a good party for the sake of three weeks.
The 50 anniversary meeting was additionally the installation as Worshipful Master of W. Bro A.B. Henwood (Tony) the last remaining Founding Member of the Lodge and it’s first Inner Guard. Tony was last Master of the Lodge in 1967 and in the intervening years proposed for membership his son Andrew, who returned the favour by presenting his father to the Lodge as Master Elect.
The ceremony was presided over by V. Wor. Bro. Michael H. Hart PGSwdB and Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Cornwall accompanied by W. Bro Stephen C. Pearn PSGD Assistant Provincial Grand Master of Cornwall together with a number of Past Rulers and other high dignitaries’. The ceremony with the usual nervous omissions and minor error was, nevertheless, conducted with dignity and conviction by all.
On completion of the ceremony the Brethren repaired to the Bristol Hotel Newquay for an extremely pleasant Festive Board.
